I’m Heather Vale Goss, otherwise known as The Unwrapper, and I’m a long-time interviewer, host and journalist. When I first started interviewing personal development experts for my original podcast, Success Unwrapped, they would share stories of tragedies and challenges they had overcome, and they were horrible experiences like illness, death, attempted suicide, rape or abuse…
And at the end of the interview I would ask them: If they could go back and do it all again without that tragedy, would they do it? And they always answered no, they would do it all again the same way, with all the pain, because it made them who they are today.
I never understood it… so I was given my own tragedy to overcome. Now I finally get it. This is why, and how it helped me in my interviews.
Don’t judge people until you walk a mile in their shoes… I walked 100 miles in shoes that hurt, and I’ll never put those shoes on again — but I also don’t regret the journey.
